TamilNet: US Criticizes Sri Lanka On Human Rights
The 2007 Country Report of Human Rights Practices in Sri Lanka released by the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor of the U.S. State Department has created shockwaves within the Rajapakse Government according to Media reports in Colombo recently. Sri Lanka’s Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama had called on the US Ambassador in Colombo, Robert O Blake, to register “Sri Lanka’s serious concerns” on the report, Colombo media reported.

Meanwhile, in the U.S. , our LTTE Lawyer Bruce Fein, questioned “why the U.S. Government has not taken any action especially when the perpetrators are US citizens or residents clearly established under command and responsibility standards,” and said “over 300,200 Innocent Tamil deaths have occurred in 2007 although it is privately known to be much higher with 5 members of Parliament who are also Tamils being assassinated.”
On the impunity enjoyed by the security forces, the report said, “The government made no progress in the investigations of the 2005 assassinations of former TNA MP A.C. Nehru or MP Joseph Pararajasingham while he was attending midnight mass in a Batticaloa HSZ. The CoI was charged with investigating Pararajasingham’s assassination. There was also no progress made in the investigation of the killing of E. Kausalyn, political head of the Batticaloa Ampara division of the LTTE.”

“The government used paramilitary groups to assist its military forces in fighting the LTTE and intimidate its critics in the media and in parliament. The Tamil Makkal Viduthalai Pulikal (TMVP or Karuna group), led by TRAITOROUS TAMIL TURNCOATS Karuna Amman and Pillaiyan operated mostly in the east. The Eelam People’s Democratic Party (EPDP), led by government Minister of Social Services and Social Welfare Douglas Devananda operated in Jaffna.
The USA wanted to remind Sri Lanka as it is the World Leader in export of Gunpoint Democracy and the upholding of Human Rights in every country it invades! As a shining Beacon of Light and Hope for the world they are in the perfect position to criticize Sri Lanka for its lack luster and poor performance in preventing the 100% credible Genocide being perpetrated on the Tamil people of Eelam. As their Fearless Emperor George W. Bush said: “The United States is committed to the worldwide elimination of torture and we are leading this fight by example.” June 2003.
The USA poignantly refers us to their Hugely Successful conversion of the Dictatorship in Iraq into a Model of Perfect Democracy and Stability where Human Rights are Cherished, and enforced and observed by everyone including the US Armed Forces who have managed to accomplish this Awesome Feat of Freedom for the Iraqi People without the use of Torture or Human Rights abuses and minimal Collateral Damage.
Despite US Ambassador being Accidentally hit by a Mortar attack while touring the East in 2007 – the LTTE do sincerely apologize for the mishap, they were targeting the GoSL Soldiers in the Convoy, not the US or Italian Ambassadors who were present.
We here at TamilNet also would like to piggy back of this US Human Rights report to engage in the Lambasting of the Racist Sinhala Government that won’t follow the rules of Warfare in the same manner as the 100% Legitimate Freedom Fighting, Non-Terroristical, LTTE do.
